Editing dynamics with "molto" in the suffix - there must be a better way!

I have, after some searching, figured out how to have a dynamic say “ff molto marcato” without the molto jumping to the front. (Put “ff marcato” in the popover then add the molto in the suffix part of the properties window).

NOW I have a new issue: if I want to change the dynamic to be “fff molto marcato” or any other dynamic with the same expression text, I have to go through the whole process again. I have to go into the popover, delete the word “molto” and change the dynamic, then go back into the properties window and re-add the “molto”.

There must be a better way! Having to reconstruct the dynamic basically from scratch every time I want to make a simple change is annoying.

For context, I’m editing film scores to match conforms to new picture versions and adding in changes that were made during the recording process so lots of tweaking dynamics, especially because the initial orchestration was very rushed, so there are lots of small edits like this.

Thanks team!

Forgive my ignorance on your process… but why bother?

Every conductor I’ve ever played under has had a different interpretation of the dynamic. And even within a single score, a piano at one point is often required to be louder/softer than the same mark at another place.

(I blame Tchaikovsky…!)

Selecting the dynamic and pressing Shift-Alt/Opt-(+ or -) should increase/decrease the dynamic level respectively.

Solved! But I had to set the key command myself in preferences, there is no default shortcut set up for this (see link)
Thanks!

Honestly a fair point. Some of the changes I was discussing with the orchestrater we acknowledged to be a bit futile since, really, it is down to the conductor to convey the right info. Still, anything we can do to make the score reflect what we want as clearly as possible is somewhat helpful.
