Editing expression maps

Hi Folks

Something seems to have changed here..

I am running Dorico 5.1.81.2225, on a mac with silicon M2 OS 15.5.

I have attached the screenshot.

When I went to add a condition to an expression map, when I add a condition (with +), “note length” gets added, but no matter how I click on the “note length” field, I cannot get a drop down to let me choose a different condition. I can use the drop down in columns 2 and 3.

Clicking on the 1st column simply highlights the whole row.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

(BTW, closing and re-opening doesn;t change things…)

Note length is the only condition currently supported so you’re not doing anything wrong

Hmm..I must be thinking of my old notation software then…

I am writing an expression map to try out spitfire studio woodwinds, and was trying to cause legato to activate under slurs…I know that that is not what the picture shosws, but the idea is still the same.

Is there any way to tie a key switch to notes under a slur?

Add the “Legato” technique (where you have “Staccato”) and then add a key switch (the little key-looking button next to Abs Ch.). You may need to fiddle with Volume Dynamic depending on how those woodwinds deal with dynamics.

Edit: … and I do wish Dorico would expand the types of conditions in a future version.

Thanks…

Thank you for letting me know that legato = slur; should’ve figured that out myself.

Now what I can’t figure out is why adding base switches for legato (ks C-2) and tenuto (ks F-2)
activate the articulations in spitfire/kontakt correctly, and noting that spitfire “marcato” is actually activated by Dorico’s accent (but not Dorico’s marcato), I can not get the staccato to activate.

In other words, I have been unable to get the staccato engraved in Dorico to activate (by specifying in the base switch the correct keyswitch (F#-2)) the staccato mode in spitfire/kontakt.

Hmmm…frustrating.

I think I will start a new thread on this!

thanks!
