Editing N6 on MC Control

So, now that I’ve FINALLY gotten something resembling stability (translation: no more Eucon crashing my PC) going on with my MC, I’ve been trying to figure out how to do some of the higher functioning edit procedures, particularly using the range tool and it’s parameters.

I can do a lot quickly, via a couple of shortcuts, using the trackball. But I’m trying to get really fast without touching the trackball at all. I’ve seen some old promos for the MC Pro where the guy was copying, pasting, trimming and lining up parts DURING PLAYBACK! That’s the kind of speed I’d like to develop using my controller.

I saw this tutorial for editing with Nuage: - YouTube

I’m trying to figure out how to do some/most of this on the MC Control WITHOUT TOUCHING THE TRACKBALL/MOUSE. I can pull the range tool up from the KB. But I can’t stretch it over the event area without using the TB. In both the MC Pro & Nuage videos they seemed to be able to do that very thing. Are they using some kind of logical editor macros or other presets to make this happen?

Any of you Post Editors have any tips on how to speed things up using the MC?
