Editing playing techniques: categories, panels, glyphs / symbols and suffixes

How do I
1. Create my own category of techniques (eg. Flamenco vs Guitar).
2. Choose which category is selected by default in the edit playing techniques dialogue.

The playing techniques categories above appear as playing techniques panels in the right region when writing the score. How do I
3. Control which panels are expanded by default.
4. Control the order of individual techniques within a panel.
5. Hide (not delete) techniques in a category so they do not appear in the panel.

Using the edit playing techniques dialogue:
6. How can I determine the source of a glyph (i.e. font, style, range, actual unicode number) for an existing playing technique?
7. If I copy a playing technique of type “glyph”, rename it, and add additional glyphs to create a compound symbol for my new playing technique, how can I ensure that my new symbol will be placed so that the original glyph is in the same location as that glyph in the original playing technique would be?
8. How can I control the default lateral offset of a playing technique symbol on the musical staff.
9. How can I control the default lateral offset of a playing technique symbol on the tablature staff (separately).
10. I think these last 3 questions have to do with “Attachment from” and “Attachment to”. Every component glyph has both. The documentation says something about attaching a glyph to the “component on its left”. I do not understand how to interpret this when multiple glyphs overlap or how this relates to the world outside the glyph.

When writing the score I can create playing technique suffixes in the bottom region. How can I
11. Use both normal and circled numbers (for strings) in a suffix?
12. Control fonts, styles, sizes, etc in a suffix as a default and individually.

In general, the answer to your questions here is “you cannot yet do this”. You can’t create your own playing technique categories (though this has often been requested and is planned), and nor can you determine a default category, nor can you adjust the order in which the existing playing techniques appear in the panel. We know that more flexibility would be welcomed here, and we plan to provide it in future.

Thank-you. This will save me looking further.
