Editor , Cycle Region and MIDI clip colours

OK I might have mentioned this before but there is an issue I am having with the MIDI Editor, the cycle region and the MIDI Clip colours.

I change the background, cycle region colours in the preferences, but I cannot make it so that the MIDI CLIP ONLY is one colour, the background is darker.

The whole thing is the same colour because the cycle region is longer than the MIDI Clip. Its so frustrating. Cycle region and midi clip should be separate colours.

Or am I missing something ?

Hi @ LeVzi,
Your nomenklatur makes your problem harder to understand than it should be..At least for me.. Screenshots?

So I want to make the clip itself keep those colours and the cycle region to be much darker. I can’t seem to make that happen.

Ahh.. By clip you mean the events - different event colors (dropdown with velocity, channel, chords etc) is the way to go but you can’t change the default colors for those.

The cycle, as you’ve already tried and seen is in preferences. But darker.. I don’t know.

No the clip as it appears in the project window. DC_Snares01 That’s the clip size, the cycle size is longer, but I cannot make one darker or lighter than the other. They are both the same colour. I want to make it easier on my eyes, but making the cycle region darker, and just the MIDI clip bright.

Your screenshot was not from the projektwindow ..
Anyway: Those are MIDI Parts and the notes are called MIDI events in Cubase.

I think there’s a miscommunication here. I want the MIDI Part a different colour to the cycle region, is that possible ? This isn’t about the project window, im talking only about the editor window.

As by the event…You have the answer there?

If you prefer a light background maybe this is something for you?

Editor Background:

Editor Cycle Region:

What I want to do, is keep the MIDI event ( as in my screen shot) white, and the extended area of the cycle region to be much darker. Is it even possible ? The only way I can get it to work right now, is to have the MIDI even and the Cycle region the same length, and this is not always possible, or an extreme pain for workflow.

The Midi Part is shown by drawing black and white keys for its duration.
Then there is the background color and the color for the cycle area. These latter two are to the ones that you can influence directly.

Anything else doesn’t work at this time.

Yeah just as I suspected, its not going to be possible to achieve what I want to. Really poor tbh, makes the whole editing area really hard to look at when the colours are all the same. MIDI clip length and cycle region should have the option to change their colours or contrasts.

You’ve tried ‘User Interface > General Colors’ ?

Don’t you love when instead of answer your question people just want to correct your terminology. As if it matters. That’s the one thing AI bots do; they know what you’re asking and just answer the question.

Yeah, doesnt change it. Its just frustrating how cycle region colour is the same as the MIDI clip length. The only difference is you see the quantize grid on the midi clip
