Eighth-note syncopations in time signatures with quarter beats

In the example below, the eighth note on the last sixteenth of beat “three” is shown exactly as I wanted it. However, I only managed this by turning the 4/4 time signature into a ¾ time signature plus a ¼ time signature, then hiding all time signature signs (including the following 4/4 sign) and then deleting a bar line. This is not ideal! Does anyone know a better solution?

Change this setting in Notation Options > Note Grouping > Syncopation:

This setting applies to the entire flow. If you only wanted this notation in this one place (or in a few places), then you should look into using Force Duration to enter those notes.

Now I finally understand this whole concept.
