I understand that surround sound is not supported in Elements.
However, when I create a new project, they seem to be implicitly created as targeting surround sound, e.g. so that stereo panning is not available on some tracks.
How do I ensure that surround sound is not targeted?
In particular, can I somehow switch a track from surround to stereo?
What type of tracks? e.g. audio or instrument
Instrument.
How did the tracks get in the project? Did you import or record them?
Did you use a Cubase template to create your project? If so, which one?
Initial 4 tracks created with String quartet template. Any subsequent instrument tracks added are also surround rather than stereo.
Are you sure this is surround panner…is it like a square box? If not then please explain exactly what you see or post a screencap.
Note that panner type will only depend on the output you are sending to so if you only have a 5.0 out set up in vst connections you will only see surround panner even if opening from template…but given Elements doesn’t support surround I’m not sure that’s what is going on here.

Screencap of mixer and warning dialog I get on startup are attached.
