Cubase 8, the hub said no internet, though there was. I read I should update my elicenser, so I did. The maintenance update crashed and now I have no licenses and can’t start Cubase. I contact support, they said they don’t support my version and I should try this forum. It is unfortunate that their software attempted an update at all, it should have just reported not supported and not lost my stuff. Help, I don’t want to lose my work or spend any more money.
But you’re not asking for Cubase 8 support, you’re asking them to support elicenser!!
Was your elicenser registered in MySteinberg? If yes do you see your licenses online?
Good news is that I downloaded the latest version for the elicenser, started it and successfully ran the maintenance update, and it solved the problem. Issue now is, if I want to run my Cubase Artist 8 after the elicenser is no longer supported in May, what steps do I need to take now? It looks like I could never install it on another machine, but it should keep working as long as this computer does? The hub still won’t connect, but I guess that doesn’t matter…
And yes, everything was registered, so I was able to see them online.
If you are using a soft elicenser it will die with the computer
You could move the license to a usb elicenser which would work on a new computer but it’ll cost you £20
If you do that I would probably think about keeping a copy of the C8 Artist installer in case they stop making it available as it’s quite old now.
I do have a usb licenser, so maybe not an issue then. As far as an installer for the program, I think I installed via a download, though I really can’t remember. I will have to look and see if I have a hard copy of Cubase 8. Thank you for responding.
I was able to download the artist 8 installer from Steinberg account and will keep a local copy. Thanks for the information. Hopefully I have all I need if the occasion to reinstall arises.
All legacy downloads are on that link I posted…even way back before 8 so you’ll probably be ok to redownload for a while anyway.
