eLicenser elcc.exe error

eLicenser fails starting with error about missing MSVCP140.dll and VRUNTIME140.dll files.

Reinstalling Visual C++ Redistributable didn’t help
Reinstalling latest version of eLicenser Control Center didn’t help either
Copying DLLs to the installation folder creates another unexpected error.

Please assist. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

This has been discussed many times here on the forum already. Please, search for the other posts.

Olso provide your Cubase version and eLicenser version.

Hi Martin. Thank you for your response. I have reviewed all the related discussions. They all refer to the solutions I mentioned above, which unfortunately are not helpful in my case. I am using Cubase 9.5, and it works fine. My issue is with the eLicenser application. I have tried all available versions, including the latest one (6.12.10.1326). I hadn’t used this application for a long time. Now, as I understand it, I need to run it to register the USB key with the Cubase license due to the announced end-of-life of the eLicenser.

Hi,

The eLicenser technology is going to be stopped. So it’s recommended to update to the latest Cubase, where no eLicenser technology is involved. At this moment, there is a discount available for the updates.

Isn’t your USB-eLicenser registered in your MySteinberg account already? Yes, eLicenser will start during the update.

Could you try to reinstall eLicenser Control Center as an administrator, please? Also try to install the redistributable as an administrator.

So, if I understood you correctly, I must have the eLicenser Control Center working in order to upgrade Cubase. So it’s even more crucial than I thought.
I have run both the eLicenser and the redistributable setups as administrator — same errors.

Well that depends somewhat on the answer you didn’t give to Martin’s question. If your dongle is registered in your account with the Cubase license on it you don’t need to panic, you will be able to upgrade even without the dongle working after the shutdown happens.

My USB-eLicenser not registered. Would it help if I temporarily install the eLicenser Control Center on another PC and connect the dongle there just to retrieve the license information?

I think that would be a wise move while you try to sort this out.
