Enable Full ARA Support for Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro in Nuendo

Hello Steinberg Nuendo Team and Community,

I am a dedicated Nuendo user who relies on it for professional audio production, post-production, and music projects. One tool that has become essential to my workflow is Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro by Dreamtonics—an incredibly powerful AI vocal synthesis plugin.

The good news is that Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro’s ARA plugin already works flawlessly in Full ARA mode with Cubase (12+), providing seamless integration, perfect tempo/sync handling, and deep editing capabilities directly within the DAW timeline.

Unfortunately, the same Full ARA functionality is not available in Nuendo, even though Nuendo supports ARA2 and shares the same core engine as Cubase. The plugin falls back to ARA Bridge Mode (or “linked mode”), which limits features and disrupts the workflow significantly.

I have already contacted Dreamtonics support directly about this. They confirmed that they have implemented everything possible on their side—the ARA plugin is fully compatible and performs perfectly in Cubase. However, enabling Full ARA mode in Nuendo requires specific cooperation and implementation from Steinberg.

This inconsistency between Cubase and Nuendo is frustrating, especially for professional users who choose Nuendo for its advanced features in film/game audio and post-production, where vocal synthesis tools like Synthesizer V are increasingly valuable.

I am extremely eager to see this resolved. Adding proper Full ARA support for Synthesizer V Studio 2 Pro would dramatically improve my (and many others’) productivity and creative possibilities in Nuendo. It seems like a relatively small adjustment on Steinberg’s end, given the proven compatibility in Cubase.

Please consider prioritizing this feature request. If needed, I (and likely other users) would be happy to provide feedback, test betas, or assist in any way.

Thank you for your attention—I truly hope to see this implemented in a future Nuendo update!

It seems you’ve used the full ARA mode extensively in Cubase. What has been your experience with stability?

I’ve had issues with Synthesizer V being loaded empty, so I make sure to always save the content as a file as a backup. Since that’s not possible in Full ARA mode, I’ve been using the bridged mode in Cubase too.

But if it’s stable, I’d really love to switch to Full ARA in Nuendo.

Hello.

I am new to the Forum, so looks like i need more interaction here, to get more vote points.

I contacted Dreamtonics 2 times and they say it is forwarded to the dev team. Looks like you got a more detailed response.

I also contacted Steinberg Support, they say its on Dreamtonics to fix this.

Maybe more people could also contact Dreamtonics and Steinberg support directly so they see that there are interest in this to get it working in Nuendo.

If I had a nickel for every time I’ve encountered two companies obstinately pointing the finger at each other I would have enough to buy enough drugs to stop caring, I’m pretty sure.

There is a DreamTonics beta, available now:

For me still not working.

P.S. Now I was curious to see what Full ARA Mode looks like. So I started Cubase 13. And sure enough, it worked right away.
And yes, now I’m annoyed too that it doesn’t work in Nuendo.

I would not mind having that tool, provided there was a genuine English voice available.

The lack of full ARA mode in Nuendo is really a dealbreaker for me because I would like to be able to mix real vocalists with artificial ones, and for genuine vocals I need to access to the dialog features, for video.

So maybe you all can click the vote button on the top of the Thread?

Life could be so easy

Or what else could we do do get it working?
Who should we bribe?

Happy New Year

Rob

Isn’t this some sort of a buck-passing situation, in any case?
