Entering lyrics per voice - help!

Dorico Pro Version 5.1.21.2098 (Feb 22 2024)

Scenario
Import choral score as xml (in this case Brahms op45). Lots of editing/cleaning up required.
Switch to only show soprano line
Select all, then filter notes, than change all notes to default stem down

Snag
Now on to the editing lyrics task: snag is, some of the lyrics appear to be for another voice, so the usual way of advancing via the spacebar or - key for melismas doesn’t always work - the popup may advance to several notes further along.

So, the question is: how does one assign lyrics to a particular voice en-masse?

I can’t find a way to do it - any clues?

Thanks
Rob

You can select lyrics and move them to another voice, just like notes.

For a work like Ein Deutsches Requiem, I hope you’re putting SATB onto 4 separate staves, and not doing it on a grand choir stave…

Thanks Ben - I’ll give it a try. Re 4 separate staves - of course! Perish the thought! (it’s illegal anyway I think)

Yes - works a treat! Thanks very much Ben - saving me loads of time

How does one do this? I selected lyrics and hit the V key, they didn’t change to the other voice. I can’t find anything in any of the menus.

Choose a syllable (or syllables) and look in the Properties menu.

You can use the jump bar. I have “Move to Upstem Voice 1” set to u. So it’s ju, Enter.

The V and Shift V shortcuts don’t work, but this will work:

Thanks. I think my eyes need to be examined. I thought I looked there but I just didn’t see it. I also found another way to do it. Select the lyrics to change, cut, then paste special into whatever voice. Your way is much better. Thanks.

Ben’s way has saved me hours on the Brahms xml import
