Equipment compatibility

Yes, that’s another story.

Hi, thank you for your response. It is a Korg, Model XC-3000if, that has the interface as I have it hooked up to my computer with the usb plug. It has a floppy drive instead of a cd player. I am on a PC with windows 10. The PC is about 8 yrs old with a newer video card and a Soundblaster sound card. It worked on the older version of Finale. I haven’t tried out the newer version, 27, as I was having issues trying to use the 25 version. I haven’t tried anything until the other day and was not too successful, so I stumbled across your chat and thought I would toss the question out. I have nothing indicated in the black box where the acceptable keyboards would be, which seems to be that it doesn’t recognize my older Korg??? Thank you for your help in this manner. Sincerely, Scott

Yes, indeed, if you’re not seeing the MIDI interface to which the keyboard is connected, or the keyboard itself if the keyboard is connected directly to your computer via USB, then it’s not detected by the computer itself, and it won’t appear in Dorico. You need to troubleshoot that problem: as soon as the keyboard is identified by the MIDI subsystem in the OS, it will appear in Dorico.

Hi ds, thank you for the info. The trouble is that it works in Finale, I can enter the notes, but not in Dorico. Since I upgraded to v27. could that be of an issue of some sort? Lol, IO only ever started with the Finale way back when because I thought it would transfer what I played on the keyboard with the notes as I played them. Instead, of course, they were put down as the one note that was selected. I am not really good at composing with pen and paper, or computer it seems, but free play and then try to adjust to what I did to sound like someone knew what they were doing. I know, silly, but that is me. Anyway, I will try to reset up Finale on my older computer and see what happens there, as it worked 8 years ago, should still work?? Catcha, Scott

Can you show us a screenshot of Apple’s Audio MIDI Setup app? It should look something like this.
