Error code 0x80070005 not letting go in Cubase. Log file attached

Hello. It’s been few months and I’m starting to loose it. Been facing this “error code 0x80070005” in cubase 11 and 12, tried a few suggestions that I read here but thought a Log file will give me the best answer.
Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Error code 0x80070005 means Access denied and it usually occurs because of lack of permissions.

Therefore I would recommend to reinstall Cubase as administrator.

Run as administer will not work in this case?
Thanks again.

Hi,

There are some known issues when running Cubase as administrator.

Note that Martin said install as admin not run as admin.

Just to be clear for future ref.

Hi,

Sorry, I didn’t realise… Update to the latest Cubase 12.0.10, please. If it’s still crashing, attach Cubase 12.0.10 DMP file, please.

Do you get the Error code 0x80070005?

Hi,

What graphic card do you use, please? Do you have the latest driver installed, please?

NVIDIA GeForce GT 730.
Yes it’s the latest update and took your advice somewhere here you said only install the important display driver and not the other extensions installs.

What does the log file says?
thanks again.

Hi,

Please try this:

  • Download the latest Studio driver version from here. If there is no Studio driver for your graphic card, use the one, which is available and continue with the same steps bellow.
  • Disconnect the computer from Internet to make sure Windows will not download and install own graphic driver.
  • Uninstall the NVIDIA driver.
  • Restart computer.
  • Start the NVIDIA driver installation (as administrator).
  • Don’t install the whole package, use the Custom (Advanced) settings.
  • Disable everything (don’t install NVIDIA Experience, PhysX, etc.), keep just the video driver enabled.
  • Connect your computer to the internet.

It says it’s in the graphical area: direct2D.

Can’t find any Studio Version that works for me.

  1. here are compatibale cards with studio versions.
    https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/175405/en-us
  2. Tried installing it and it say it’s not compatible to my graphic card…

any ideas left?

Hi,

Install the driver compatible with your graphic card and do the settings I mentioned, please.

Make sure, your graphic card is compatible and supported with your Windows (10/11?) system.

Still same error. Pls help
