Error popups

I keep getting this popup. Anyone know what to do to fix it? I HAVE run the Dorico application installer AND reinstalled Dorico. Thanks for any help.

Please do from Dorico’s menu Help > Create Diagnostic Report and attach the resulting zip file to a reply here in the forum. Thanks

And not to be forgotten, welcome to the forum @jazzthisNM !

We need to find out what is already installed and with what access rights. Therefore please open a Terminal window (do a Spotlight search for Terminal.app) and there type (or copy’n past) the command

find /Library/Application\ Support/Steinberg/Content -ls > ~/Desktop/SMTGContents.txt

and press the Enter/Return key. On your Desktop the file SMTGContents.txt shall appear. Please zip that up and post here. Thanks

Hi Ulf,

Thank you for all of your help! I am attaching the SMTGContents text zip file to this email. I appreciate all you are doing to help resolve THIS issue (there are others…)!

Hi @jazzthisNM ,
thanks for the data. It gives me a mixed picture, some of the contents files are really missing, some are installed but apparently have wrong credentials, and one of them is registered but in a completely wrong place.
So what I suggest now is reinstalling everything. Sounds tough, yes, but it’s the most efficient way to get things into shape again. So my proposal is:

  • Start the Steinberg Library Manager and for each listed sound library click the Remove button. Do that for every listed item, also the Groove Agent contents (notice the Groove Agent tab at the top of the Library Manager window.
  • Start the Steinberg Download Assistant, go to the Dorico section and click on the Install All Again button at the top right of the Download Assistant window.
  • I know, that will take quite some time, maybe a good decision to let it run over night.

And if afterwards there is still trouble, don’t worry, we still have other means of weapons .

Hi Ulf, thank you for all of your help! I followed all of the steps in your last post and Dorico open with no error messages or hangups. My question to you now is how many of the items in the Downloads>Steinberg>OSX folder (please refer to screen shot) do I need to keep? Which ones would I be able to trash and free up disk space? Thanks SO MUCH!

Carl

Hi Carl,
you are more than welcome.
Theoretically you can delete everything from the Downloads folder. But before doing so, please do that find command in the Terminal once more. I want to make sure that everything now got installed and registered in the right place. Once I confirmed that, you then can clean-up your Downloads folder.
