Eurolite USB-DMX512 PRO stays red in VST Live 3 Pro (macOS Sequoia 15.2) but works perfectly in QLC+

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing a critical issue with DMX output in VST Live 3 Pro on macOS Sequoia 15.2. I am unable to get any data out of my interface, even though the hardware is verified to work perfectly with other software on the same machine.

My Setup:

  • OS: macOS Sequoia 15.2

  • Software: VST Live 3 Pro

  • DMX Interface: Eurolite USB-DMX512 PRO (FTDI-based)

  • Fixtures: 2x Stairville VF-1200 DMX Fog Machines

The Issue: In VST Live 3 Pro, the LED on the Eurolite interface remains solid red, indicating it has power but is not receiving a DMX data.

Extensive Troubleshooting within DMX Tracks: I have tried various configurations within the DMX tracks to trigger a signal, but nothing changed the red LED status:

  • Universes: I experimented with changing the assigned Universe settings.

  • Monitoring: I toggled the Monitoring (Input/Output) buttons on and off.

  • Faders/Values: I manually moved faders and drew automation curves (values 0-255) to force a data change.

  • Chase Menu: I tried every possible configuration and mode within the “Chase” menu.

Comparison with QLC+: I tested the exact same hardware setup (same USB port, hub, and cables) with QLC+.

  • In QLC+, the interface is recognized immediately.

  • On Port 1 and Port 2, the LED turns blinking green instantly, meaning it is receiving DMX data.

  • This proves the hardware and the macOS driver/permissions are working fine; the issue seems isolated to VST Live 3 Pro not “opening” the port.

My Questions:

  1. Am i missing a switch or something to activate the DMX stream?

  2. Why does VST Live 3 Pro not initiate the data stream (Green LED) while QLC+ does it automatically?

  3. Is there a hidden preference to enable DMX global controls in version 3.0?

I added screenshots of all relevant windows within VST Live 3 Pro and QLC+ and my macbook pro specifications.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hi @Robin_DTDR,

Hm …

  1. Can you please tell me a link in the web to your hardware?
  2. Please make sure that no other software like (QLC+) is running next to VST Live
  3. Do you use VST Live 2 before? There, the Communication worked?

See you,
Michael.

@Robin_DTDR Attention: which version of VST live 3 are you on???
If you are on official public release 3.0.10, be aware that DMX FADERS now act as track master dimmer, and are set OFF by default (bug).

Download the latest 3.0.12 I believe from www.vstlive.net this bug has been solved.

Cheers, Ciro.

Hi @Spork and @ciro1983811

Thanks for your input! I realized I had to change the protocol from generic to eurolite. Now everything is working as it should.
