Everything seems slower all of the sudden?

Anyone else having this issue…

Cubase 10.5 was running great and very snappy and it seems like the interface is laggy and load times for projects and plugins are a lot longer than just a few weeks ago. I’m trying to think if this coincided with the latest update but I think it was more recent. Maybe a Windows Update or graphic driver is messing it up?

Any ideas or anyone suddenly noticing the same thing?

I would also expect Windows/any driver update.

I seem to have sorted out and even improved performance beyond what it was before the issue became a real drag.

I also suspected it could be the graphics driver (I have Nvidia 1080), especially since the video driver had also been recently updated. I went into the Nvidia control panel and turned everything to either “off” or “maximum performance” and that seems to have cleared things up. Plugins open very snappily and the GUI is responsive and smooth again. Hope this helps anyone out there.

For NVIDIA graphics cards, this is recommended:

  • Uninstall the NVIDIA driver.
  • Download the latest Studio driver version from here.
  • Start the installation (as administrator).
  • Don’t install the whole package, use the Custom (Advanced) settins.
  • Disable everything (don’t install NVIDIA Experience, PhysX, etc.), keep just the video driver enabled.
