I can sort of see “why” from a programmer’s point of view - you end editing shift-X or Alt-shift-X items by pressing escape, which is different from editing almost everything else in Dorico.
But I find this very annoying. I’ve lost count of the number of times I want to create a text item, alt-click it onto more than one staff, and then undo the mistake that I actually alt-clicked the note the text was attached to, not the text itself.
Maybe I really ought to create these text items as something that Dorico understands semantically (playing techniques, divisi labels, etc) not just “staff text,” but that is extra steps compared with just hitting Shift-X and typing something like “4 soli” on a vocal chorus part.
Does anybody else feel the same way or is it just me?
