Exiled in the Imperial Palace

On the old forum I didn’t often go to the Lounge. But now it is real easy to see and listen to all the stuff folks are posting. So I figure I should join in.

While on a road-trip to LA from San Francisco. My car got rear ended waiting at a stop light. This initiated an extended adventure which at one point had me staying in Las Vegas for a bit under 2 weeks. This was mostly because a room could be had on the mid-strip for ~$38 at the Imperial Palace (on the weekends that jumped to $300+ and I relocated to Henderson for a couple of days).

While the Palace has been replaced its shtick was that their waitstaff and dealers were celebrity impersonators who would on occasion burst into a spirited performance. This song is about someone who ended up working at the Imperial Palace.

EXILED IN THE IMPERIAL PALACE

Alice bleached her hair
My head got shaved
Sure had us running scared
Avoiding our graves
We caught just the slightest glance
So we went on the lam

Exiled in the Imperial Palace
Do not disturb under threat of malice
Exiled in the Imperial Palace

We shot out, heading west from
Kalamazoo, need a new zip code
Helter-Skelter’s blasting
My car’s radio
We were sunset bound
Drained our bank accounts

Exiled in the Imperial Palace
Do not disturb under threat of malice
Exiled in the Imperial Palace

Everyone here looks like someone else
Marilyn’s slinging drinks, the blackjack dealer’s Elvis
Living here is camouflage
Shrouded in one more scotch

Twenty five years ago
That poop went down
Alice moved to Cairo
While chasin’ some clown
Now I spin Roulette
Why don’t you place a bet

Exiled in the Imperial Palace
Do not disturb under threat of malice
Exiled in the Imperial Palace

Like the imagery. I haven’t been to Las Vegas in decades, but it still evokes the impression I had. Nice Punk feeling! Sounded great to me.

Nicely done.
Very much an authentic '70’s US punk vibe…

Love it.

thanks all
