Export bugs: Midi naming & BPM slightly off

Hi, i enter track name, MIDI track plus export MIDI file (all same , e.g. bass) and it still instead shows onboard / AUV3 instrument name when opening on Ableton. This shouldn’t be (Logic gets this right btw)

Already posted in Dec 2019 but still, BPM of Cubasis exported files is slightly off when opening in Ableton (all other iOS DAWS get that right), e.g. 120 will be 119.79.

PS: you don’t need a project file to replicate this…

Is this issue too minor to get noticed? It’s really bad for collaborations for example when your partner loads a bunch of (correctly named) MIDI files and they’re all named “Microlouge” and “OP-Xd” or something…

Hi @Ichbins2

Thank you for your report, which has been shared with the team.

Hi! I second this concern - exporting the MIDI tracks named with the instrument name instead of the given track name is problematic! Not only for importing to 3rd party but even to Steinberg’s Dorico itself. The intelligence of the MIDI import of Dorico Mobile groups staves incorrectly just because multiple tracks are all named eg. Minilogue or Microsonic…

Please could you look into fixing this? Thanks!

Hi @joerg_weedermann,

Thanks for your message! The reported issue has been added to our backlog and is planned to be addressed in the next update.

Best,
Lars

I’ve also noticed that at times an audio render has the wrong BPM. Resetting the project’s BPM corrects this. This is with no tempo track changes.

Hi @cubaser,

Thanks for your message.

It can easily go wrong when different issues are added to an existing topic. Here, the report was about MIDI, while it seems you are encountering an issue with an audio file, correct?

Please create a new issue and share the details on how to reproduce the problem.

Thanks for your help
Lars

Too random to reliably reproduce, still a BPM problem so I’ll leave it at that.

Hi @cubaser,

Unfortunately, a reproducible case is required for us to evaluate and hopefully resolve the issue. Without that, there’s nothing we can do.

Best,
Lars
