Export Finale to Dorico problem with empty bars

Hello,

Last year I’ve been exporting a lot of my Finale files to xml to import them in Dorico. Works pretty well. But today I wanted to export a Finale piece, the export seemed to work, no error messages, but imported in Dorico only the first 10 bars are reproduced properly, the rest of the 99 bars only appear as compressed bars - please see the screenshot…

What is going wrong here? Is there a way to fix this? I’ve tried several times to make a fresh xml export, of course, but the result is always the same…

Thanks!

The xml file has errors in it that Dorico cannot resolve. It’s probably due to tuplet calculations not adding up correctly.

Thanks, Janus!

indeed, I erased the RH of measure 10 in Finale, and made a new xml; then the problem shifted to measure 17, so I repeated the procedure with this measure and now the complete score appears perfectly in Dorico. Problem solved - restoring this two measures is no problem.

I took the liberty to modify the title of the thread: this is by no means a new problem, anyone who knows about the empty bars will understand the problem and won’t waste time here, and anyone who has the same problem will be happy to find your thread!

Indeed, thank you Marc.

It’s probably the tuplets. Though the 10 beats in that 7/4 bar probably aren’t helping, either.

Indeed, in both measures there were tuplets with grace notes and time signature changes… but still, this is not so difficult. The ten beats were not in my score, they are a result of the malfunctioning of the export… I wonder what happens when you try to export a really complex contemporary orchestra score…
