This is a feature that I know has been requested before. It would indeed be awesome if it was given some attention.
I have recently (4wks ago) switched over to Cubase from 15yrs with DP, and the one lacking feature that is keeping me from being 100% converted, is the lack of video export.
Yes yes yes, ‘Replacing the Audio in a Video File’ is an option, but here is why it is not a viable option for film at tv composers. The “Replacing the Audio in Video File” option, replaces the audio in the entire video file from the very start of the video file. When working in film (obviously) you’re working with about 20min reels.
If I am in the middle of a REEL, say 1hr into a film and i only need to submit one scene for approval/revisions, I need to be able to export only that scene…not the entire 20min reel.
When writing cues in Digital Performer, I would always export the cue with video. This would allow me to mix the client’s ‘sound/dialogue’ with my cue to be sent off for approval. Clients can watch the scenes anywhere to be able to make notes and then get back to me.
So, an option to be able to “Export video between locators with replaced audio” would be a feature that I am sure would be hugely welcomed by the Cubase community who work in TV and Film. I can’t be the only one.
