I know this is basic for most of you, but could you please help.
I use Cubase LE Al Elements 7.
An old keyboard - midi I/O.
DR Synth sound module - midi I/O/THRU.
Edirol UA-4FX for audio reocording vocals etc.
The keyboard midi out and the Dr Synth midi in are connected by a dual midi usb lead into the computer.
The midi sounds come out of the speakers that are connected to the Dr Synth audio L/R.
The audio sounds come out of the computer speakers.
Is that the way you would set up?
I only ask because when I try to export to MP3 - I only get the audio bit (vocals) not the instruments.
If I use the basic arrangememnts that are already there with the program I get the HALion Sonic SE instruments and can export them but not the DR Synth ones.
I do make it function by other means, but I get the feeling I’m doing it in a long winded fashion and I’m missing comething very basic.
To be able to export all tracks to the one WAV/MP3 file, you have to send the audio signal from the DR Synth to the Cubase via any Audio Device (sound card). Do you own one?
MIDI has nothing to do with a sound in fact. It’s just about the data. The tone generator (DR Synth in your case) makes the sound. You have to get the sound back to Cubase to be able to mix it down with the rest.
If you are using a virtual instruments, the sound is generated internaly in Cubase. So you don’t need to take care.
