Expression map for NotePerformer behaving oddly

I noticed that some violin notes during playback sounded rather truncated. Looking at the “played durations” in the key editor, the durations are less that the 85% indicated in the NotePerformer expression map. To see what would happen, I changed the default duration in the NotePerformer expression map to 50%, and the played durations dropped to a very small value, looking to me to be about 25% or less.

Perhaps there’s something I’m not understanding about how this all works, but this seems all wrong.

Okay this is weird. Fired up Dorico 5 to see if my problem is something new in Dorico 6. The play durations seem to be unaffected by any changes to the expression map. Then went back to Dorico 6, and now it’s behaving correctly.

I’m having a hard time understanding the expression map length control with legato. With all playback options at default values, I add 3 techniques to an expression map (Natural as well): Legato == Very Short (length % = 25) Legato == Short (length % = 50) Legato >= Medium (length % [default]) … but no matter what value I put for length, the played lengths simply don’t change. Given that note durations started behaving as I expected after I restarted Dorico, either the program went berserk on me, or I touched something at some point that changed the behavior. Though I have no idea what that could be.
