What is the best way to set up font style for this sort of marking? This would be similar to an “expression”
Can I make a shortcut for this? The only method I know currently is (shift-x) then change to italics which is cumbersome for the frequency of use.
Please let me know if there is a better way of doing this!
- Create a new Paragraph Style called “Expressions”.
- Save it as a Default, so it’s available in all documents.
- You can then assign it a shortcut.
I have used Shift E, as it fits with the scheme and isn’t used by anything. yet.

I’ve managed the first part- thanks! How do I set it up as a shortcut??
Once you’ve saved it as a Default, then it should show up in Preferences > Key Commands > Note Input > Create Text.

I have set this up as a shortcut, however, it doesn’t appear in my other projects! I’ve clicked the “save as default” button but it still doesn’t appear except in the project that I created it in.
Hi @trumpetandfilm ,
you need to save the newly created Paragraph Stile itself as default, clicking on the little star icon till it becomes full white, so it will appear in all your projects:
Yes, I have done this, but it does not appear in any other project.
I might be wrong, but in order for this to work, you first need to create your style, press ok, then come back and save as default.
Also note that setting a paragraph style as default does not automatically add it to previously saved projects! You can use the Library Manager to do that.
