Extra beats show up in imported MusicXML file

This piece is in 2/2 time, converted to musicXML from Finale. Everything else looks fine, but this bar has an extra half rest that I cannot get rid of (I’ve tried highlighting and delete, highlight and backspace, delete left from the following note, delete right from the previous note (it tells me an error has occurred). It also has this odd message (please see pic). Thanks for any insight!

There’s a signpost in the upper left indicating a metre change. Select it, and type return to inspect it. I guess it shows “2/2,3”, which means start a new stretch of 2/2 with a pick-up bar of 3/2. This may have occurred when you deleted a barline. Dorico will adapt, (more or less), but it won’t make the odd new time signature visible. Maybe it should.
To repair: delete the signpost. If you also want to delete the rest: select it, type Shift-B-1henter. This removes one half note from ‘musical time’, i.e. from all parts.

Deleting the signpost worked. Thank you very much!

You are likely to encounter this frequently with xml files that are not well encoded by the program that exported them.
It can be a particular problem with with originals that have multiple voices on one stave, some of which have tuplets.
Another thing to watch out for is when Dorico has to interpret each stave as having a local time signature…

Okay, thank you.

Thanks, and thanks!

Well, it’s changed, but I liked the black one

Haha!

I also ended up having to use your Shift-B, etc. command as well – as everything after had shifted over 1 beat.
