Extraneous number and bizarre placement of Bar Repeat Regions

Can anyone please explain what the hell is going on here…?

I don’t know from looking at it. Can you upload that part of the project?

Essentially, I selected 4 empty bars in the drum part (where I wanted the previous 4 bars to be repeated), selected “Create Bar Repeat Region”, and changed “No. bars” to “Four bars” in the properties panel. The above is what transpired - an extra 4 above the stave and the repeat mark positioned lower than expected. A glitch, or user error (more likely…)…?

It could be trying to create a repeat region in up-stem and down-stem voices.

Try using the caret to add this:

  • Position caret at start of bar repeat
  • Shift+R
  • I think the entry should be %4 (repeat last four bars) or maybe %4,4 (grouped in four)
  • Enter

Does this work? If not, I would need a project and a moment to fiddle. Or, someone else might chime in with a solution.

Are you using one of the Finale Music Fonts, perchance? Finale Broadway and Finale Jazz seem to have incorrect glyphs here.

I think you could go Library > Music Symbols, then go to the Bar Repeats section, Bar count 4, use the trash button and hit Enter, without any negative consequences.

Didn’t work unfortunately, but thanks for the suggestion

Yes! The repeat numbers were in Finale Jazz. Have changed to Bravura and all is well. Thanks Leo
P.S. I couldn’t find Edit Music Symbol anywhere, but I am using Elements (which I should have mentioned and didn’t, for I am an idiot…).
