Only semi-serious… I wish that Dorico would set off alarms every minute or so whenever you select Set local properties to Globally.
Oy, don’t use Dorico when distracted! LOL

Yeah it can be a killer!!
For me it’s actually the opposite! But I get you.
I’ve set the preference to start projects with Global. Usually only set to local when I’m engraving.
(Since properties can be affected by graphic operations when the Properties panel is closed, I’ve suggested before that it would be nice if this toggle were available on the status bar – although, yes, the status bar is already kind of crowded on smaller monitors.)
I have set up shortcuts for Global/Local that I use redundantly all the time, now it is almost like a reflex. With the jump bar it is really quick.
Would Steinberg consider putting a Signal Lamp somewhere at the top of the screen, say, to the right of the “View” and the “Hide/Restore Zones” buttons, that indicates the state of the properties setting? Make it a green "G” for Global and a red “L” for Local? That would sure come in handy.
You might appreciate this thread from last year, @leejackson.
Too subtle… ![]()
You’re right - that is an easy way to remember they key when signposts are turned off, isn’t it!
Actually, this would be one of the things where color-coding the state of a property would be useful. For instance, in Pro Tools you have 4 modes of operation, and each mode has a distinct color. The “Shuffle” mode, the most potentially destructive, has a red colour. Similarly, locally/globally could have two different colours, so you could see in the corner of the eye if the correct mode is on.
As for insert mode… that button should scream red all the way.
