HI Is there anybody who knows where those default playback templets is store?
They’re stored inside the Dorico application package. You shouldn’t interfere with them.
On one of computer they are missing, I can’t load any playback templets, what to do?
I have problem with to load playback templets both computer with Dorico Wizard Vsl templets!
They won’t appear if the required playback components are missing. Run Steinberg Download Assistant and make sure you have installed all of the required sound content.
I started Steinberg Download app. It say I have all content downloaded in Elements version. I have bought that version. I have also a trial version of the Dorico pro. When I start Dorio Element 6 and try load playback templets nothing happens more than staffs.
Please run Steinberg Library Manager and attach a screenshot of that window.
Are you are referring to the Dorico Wizard, which is part of Vienna Assistant?
If so, please give us more details.
For which VSL products are you trying to create Dorico templates?
Have they ever worked?
Screenshots would be most helpful please.
Hi Mark,
Suddenly on one of my computer the templets from VSL Prime work. So now on my first computer Vsl with Prime edition works but not the Halion Sonic which not shown up at all, on my second computer Halion Sonic works but not the Vsl Prime. So if I want changed instrument I have to changed computer!
On the computer where the default playback templates aren’t appearing, please do Help > Create Diagnostic Report and attach the resulting zip file here.

According to the application log, Dorico thinks most of the sound content is indeed missing. Can you please try re-downloading all the sound content via SDA, then once it’s downloaded, go into the Downloads/Steinberg/OSX folder, then go into each folder for each bit of content, and double-click the .vstsound file in that folder, which should cause Steinberg Library Manager to properly register and install the sounds.
Bearing in mind that we’re not familiar with the way each of your computers is set up, the only suggestion I feel confident in making is that each and every one of each third party and native Steinberg plug-ins and associated Playback Templates must be on each computer.
Additionally to what has been said, make sure that Dorico has full disk access. You do that in the System settings under Privacy & Security and there under Full Disk Access. Similarly , give the Steinberg Download Asisstant and Steinberg Library Manager also full disk access. This is not a guarantee that it will work, but much more likely .
I’m not sure if this is the same issue, but I wound up getting it after three tries to load / unload templates. No strategy; I just tried and untried templates until something worked. I have no idea what I did.
Now I have done what you suggest but there no templets to load from Dorico with Halion instrument! I have done a restart of the computer. It looks as it was before.

I’m afraid it’s still showing most of the content as missing. Can you try checking the permissions on the locations shown in Steinberg Library Manager where the content is installed, to make sure that those folders (and all subfolders) are readable by all users?
Thats done but no change.
I found this Vst sound content in library/Application support/steinberg/content/Halion/Vst Sound 22gb. Must of the content is Halion symfonic orchestra
All of the other content is in download folder/ Steinberg and the folder there of Halion Symfonic orchestra is emty. Have this any impact of the problem?
I’m going to have to tag in @Ulf here, because I’m afraid I’m not sure what could be wrong now. If the content is all located in /Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Content and that whole folder tree has suitable permissions for your user account, everything should be OK.
