Fader Automation from MIDI controller stops writing

Hi,

In Cubase 14 (but the same thing happened in 13) I have setup one of my faders on my Novation Launchkey 61 to write the Volume automation on the selected track with the MIDI mapping assistant.

The fader responds correctly, and it starts writing automation properly, but after a few seconds it stops writing even if I keep moving the fader constantly.

Any idea why that might happen?

Is the Write Automation still enabled?

Yes the automation still shows up as engaged, but it doesn’t write. What happens is that the selection goes from the track to the volume automaton track that gets created as soon as I move the fader on my controller. And after a while even if I move the fader the automation doesn’t write anymore.
