Faderport 16 not controlling Cubase 13/14 (Mac M1 Mini - Sonoma 14.6.1)

After upgrade to Cubase 14.0.10 the FP16 does not seem to be sending a MIDI signal to Cubase. I don’t know if there is a setting in the new version I may have flubbed, I’ve tried reinstalling the app, different/blank projects, re-configuring the FP16 and reinstalling the FP16 firmware.
When I open a project SOMETIMES the FP16 faders hop into place and the track names are visible, so it seems there is at least one-way traffic but the controls do nothing in the DAW and nothing shows in the MIDI monitoring going from the FP16 to Cubase :frowning:

I re-installed Cubase 13 to test and it seems to have a similar issue now - the only difference is that the PLAY button starts playback and then no other controls do anything…

What’s odd is it works as expected in other DAWs I’ve tested on the MAC M1 and the Windows version of Cubase 14 also works fine (Windows 11).

Any ideas/thoughts are welcome
I need to stop looking at this for today, few enough hairs left as it is !

Thanks -
Steve

After installing Cubase 14, did you use Cubase 14 to open up a session that was created in a prior version?

There are a number of us experiencing issues with control surfaces getting broken by doing just this.

If you did do this, please try factory resetting your FP16, then use the software to update the firmware again.

Then try opening a new session in Cubase 14 to see the behavior.

Hi,

Thanks for the tip! That’s exactly what I did, opened up a recent C13 project in C14.

The steps you’ve listed unfortunately didn’t make much difference – with the fresh Factory Reset/ Firmware update and an empty C14 project, the play button worked but that was the end of all functionality :frowning: .

I tried with no 3rd party plugins as well, thinking that might make a difference, but, it hasn’t.

We’ll find it  – until then I can move most of the projects to Windows as needed.

Thanks again!

Steve
