Faders not smooth

Hello. I have problem with controlling faders via nanokontrol 2. As i move the faders on nanokontrol cubasis is moving them but with visible lag. They are not moving smooth, rather they jump from one place to another making laggy sounds. What can i do to fix it? I am using nanokontrol as mackie. I tried other daws and instruments and it is smooth. So it isnt nanokontrol problem, i guess it has something to do with cubasis. Please help

Hi @jbosnjak25

Please share a short clip with us which shows the steps leading to the problem.
Also please add further infos about your device and OS in use.

Thanks

As you can see it is not smooth and it is especially problem when slow fading sounds

I seem to have the same problem with my Icon Nano controller. Faders not moving smooth. Sometimes jumping all over the place.

Having similar issues. I have an SL mixface. I tried an Akai MidiMix and it seemed smoother at first but then encountered the same problem. When I change to mixer mode in Cubasis I need to move the faders way up and down first for functionality to kick in. Is there a fix or setting for this?

Hi pmargen,
Welcome to Cubasis :+1:
If you tap on SETUP/MIDI and tap on MIDI Learn, tap on the Mixer tab on top left and you will see a screen similar to my photo, as soon as you have tapped the Red Circle, proceed to move your intended hardware fader, you will notice a new box appear on the right, I have a yellow arrow pointing to it, tick this box and your faders won’t suddenly jump to a new position, please read the Cubasis help section below which covers Catch Up for Faders only.
Good luck.
Mike

  • Catch-Up Mode is only available for volume and pan. Imagine that you select a track that has its volume at 0 dB in Cubasis, but your hardware MIDI controller’s fader is currently at its min position. When you start moving the fader up, the track’s volume will immediately jump to a very low volume value like -100 dB. To prevent this, enable catch-up mode before assigning the mapping. This means that the track’s volume won’t change until the hardware fader’s value will match (or catch up to) the track’s volume, which is 0 dB in our case. This will result in a smooth volume change from the moment your hardware fader reaches its 0 dB position.

I have the same problems. Faders not tracking smoothly.
I’ve tried it with Oxygen 25, Trigger finger in learn mode and with a BCF2000 in Mackie mode.
The lag and the slow update rate makes it unusable. It stutters and sometimes jumps 6db.
It’s even worse than in the video supplied by the OP.

I’m running Cubasis 3.7.5

Thanks Lars (nice name by the way).

This was reported over a year ago and the problem persist. It kind of defeats the use of an external Mackie controller, or any other external fader. Writing automation for example is not possible in any practical way.

Remote automation was the main reasons to upgrade to Cubasis 3 for me. So I think this is pretty important.
Any idea if this will ever make it to a sprint and if so when?

Kind regards
Lasse

Hi @Lars_Thomasson

Thanks Lars (nice name by the way).
And yours too…

We hope to be able to address the topic in the next update, which however may take some time still.

Best,
