Faster ways of routing / 'Add Track' Dialog Boxes: Assign Currently Selected Track As Output

It would be great if add track dialog boxes had a checkbox option in which, the output of whatever track is being created, is set to whatever track is currently selected in the project.

If I am working in the Folder for vocal tracks, and am adding vocal tracks - there’s probably already an established sum bus group there I could just click and then keycommand add track, checkbox for this option is already selected, press enter.

We have the amenity to ‘Add Group Track to Selected Channels’, but not the other way around… ‘Add Audio Track to Selected Group’

There could be other UI pathways to this workflow to consider…

  • Modifier right clicking on Group/FX/Output tracks

    • Would present two different menu tiers, one for output connection, one for FX
      • Add Tracks and Outputs to Selected Group
        • Audio
        • Instrument
        • Sampler
        • FX
        • Group
        • etc
      • Add Tracks and Sends to (first 8) Selected FX Channels
        • Audio
        • Instriemnt
        • Sampler
        • etc

  • Stored Memory - Another method, could be a user “memory capture” selection (as in, how Zoom Memory works), where a selected input abled track, user hits a key command ‘…Tracks to be routed to Selected Channel’, then selects the channels to be routed and hit’s a ‘Assign Outputs to Memory’‘ or ‘Assign Sends To Memory’.

  • Drag n’ Drop - User selects tracks to be routed, clicks and drags as if to re-order them, hits a modifier key.. say ctrl for output assignment… drags them to the middle of a group track header… or ctrl-alt for sends assignment.

  • Could have individual key commands for Add Audio (FX, etc) Track Output to Selected Group, and a whole other set for Audio Track (etc) Sends To Selected FX channel. Would allow people to created Shift Functions in programs such as MetaGrid.

  • Visibility Function Command: ‘Show Only Selected Channels And Routings’… potentially could have two… ‘Show Only Selected Channels And Routings - ENABLED’… ‘Show Only Selected Channels And Routings - ENABLED & BYSPASSED’…
