[Feature Request] Anyone want this dark mode option in Dorico?

It looks really really comfortable with Norfonts (made by Nor Eddine Bahha).

Just Invert Video: CTRL Alt Command 8.

I’m running macOS Big Sure, on Mac you can invert colors from Accessibility Shortcut :

I love dark mode for text but music? nooo…

Why not? It protects eyes when editing score.
No one needs to print music in this dark way, still.

Because it’s barely readable. Even big chunks of text are less readable in dark mode, that’s why word processors typically don’t follow dark mode.
Interface dark mode is ok, but please, not sheet music!

Generally here’re the colors code I mostly use:

Here are some color codes you may want to use instead of a dark mode which really I don’t like:

Hex Color code: #d6dfe7
Hex Color code: #e2cdaf
Hex Color code: #d8ebda
Hex Color code: #c1d7b7
Hex Color code: #dedee6
Hex Color code: #e7e7e7
Hex Color code: #f6eded
Hex Color code: #e5e5e5
Hex Color code: #afceeb

I think they are cool to the eyes.

You should try the Dark Mode in Dorico in order to have a balance of the color I mentioned above.

You are being afraid of being forced to use the dark mode I said.
Meanwhile, I was just asking whether I can have an option of such.

Your subject seems to be asking if anyone wants a dark mode. If that’s not the question you’re trying to ask, maybe update the subject.

Having the option would be great for those interested, especially for using Dorico at night - and harmless for those who wouldn’t desire it.

Well, at least where Mac is concerned, the accessibility options already make this possible as was shown above.

Yeah… not sure what the PC/ MAC ratio is for Dorico users - I’m on PC across all systems.

If anyone knows of a decent workaround on PC, please post it here!

Weirdly under Magnifier…

Aha! Great, thank you.

  • [you leave the Magnifier app on, toggle Control- Alt-I for on/off]

Well I already use Dark Mode in Dorico but no way do I want a forced B&W negative display of the score. Very difficult to read for those with older eyes.

Concerning chunks of text, I dont agree . I read this forum with white text on a black background and have no problems with legibility.

@david-p Since every individual is so different this would be best with an option switch to enable/disable that aspect. Personally I’d have to stop using Dorico altogther :frowning: or use the light mode, which is really not good.

I have to -1 this suggestion of the OP.

@Andro: The title of this thread indicates that the OP is asking for this as an option, only, and I would personally have no problem with that, although I could suggest better uses for the Dorico progammers’ time!

David

I read it differently altogether - that he wanted this to be part of the Dark Mode option, when you chosse Dark Mode instead of Light Mode.
