Hi
I may have requested this before I think. And maybe it is here now but I can’t see it.
But, it would be really helpful if there was a way to copy a volume envelope from a source track to a destination track within a montage.
A typical application would be: a different version of a track comes in with, for example, a verse taken out. The initial master was otherwise approved, so the new edit from the mix engineer needs to be processed in exactly the same way.
Unless I have missed something, at present sometimes quite complicated volume envelope shapes need to be manually redone on the new track … even if it is within the same montage as the source track.
You can copy the shape from the source track but do not seem to be able to paste that to the destination track.
This is one of the few things I miss from Sequo#a where a bunch of stuff can be copied and pasted source to destination (sometimes with ‘auto conform’).
I understand there are many competing priorities but if consideration could be given to this feature down the track it would make me smile.
And thanks again for the current amazing WL version!
All the best
Paul
You can definitely copy and paste things like level/volume automation from one clip to another, regardless of which montage track it’s on.
This is something I do often when mastering instrumental and clean versions of a single song.
I’m not at a computer now but I’m guessing there is a Copy button in the Envelope Ribbon Tab.
I created a shortcut for this so I don’t use the button ever.
Hi Justin
Thank you …I’ll have a look around the ribbon.

You are correct … and I now recall using this in a previous version.

Here’s a screen shot for anybody finding this thread later.
I guess I do it often enough that I programmed a shortcut for copy and paste of envelope shapes:
Yes … I was trying to use the menu brought up right click mouse (on Windows).
Which seems like a logical place to look…
There actually is a Copy/Paste Shape option in the right-click context menu, you just have to click directly on the envelope (or at least very close to it).
Correct … but on my system once copied it will not paste to a destination track … except from the ribbon command.
Hi
I am replying again mainly for future readers of the thread.
There is no problem selecting and copying the envelope shape … or pasting it in the same track with the RH click menu.
However, on my system (and confirmed by Justin) you cannot paste the copied envelope shape to a different (destination) track except with the ribbon command.
That’s fine and hence the topic is marked as a solution found.

Interesting. Is the Paste option in the context menu greyed out, or can you click it and it just does nothing?
For me the context menu seems to work fine across different tracks (and track types), even across different montages with varying sample rates. Win 11 Pro 23H2, WaveLab Pro 12.0.50
Interesting. Seems like a possible bug.
Or operator error …
Anyway, I am more than happy using the ribbon. Thanks.
