Feature request - Montage option to mute all tracks except Active Track

Hi PG!

Here’s another proposal…

It would be great if there was an option in Preferences for Audio Montage where you could enable WL to automatically mute all other tracks than the Active Track in the Montage.

Now you can manually use the Mute and/or Solo buttons to select which track you want to monitor, but it would be much easier and more “clean” if you could have WL to do that automatically making it easy for A/B monitoring and comparing Clips etc.

Then you just have to select what track to listen to during Playback.

If I understand you correctly, that would be totally redundant with the solo function. So I don’t think it’s a good idea.

Hi!

Yes, it is like the Solo function, except that you can Solo a track that is not (and do not become) the Active track. So monitoring a track and viewing list of clips and editing plugins does not correspond.

I just thought it would be cleaner/clearer that the active track is what you are actually listening to and working with.

But it’s not a big deal, I can live with the Solo function…

Just wonder if this is found in other app’s ?

Hi S-E!

Cubase (which I use for recording and mixing) has a preference for “Enable Solo for Selected Tracks” which works in a similar way, i.e. once you have engaged solo on a track you can then select other track(s) and they are soloed automatically.
So similar to my proposal above.

But Cubase is much more targeted for multi-tracking, so I guess it’s kind of more motivated there.

I just thought it would be good if selecting track and monitoring/soloing could be more combined/integrated in WL in a way. But I think the WL Solo function will work OK!

Hi!

Yes thanks Cubase is Multi-track right and more sophistication , but I find it easy to go with Solo button selected between tracks in WaveLab but your idea is fine as well I think…
