It would be very nice, if a VST3-plugin-chain could be flawlessly set to each layer.
Yes, I know, SL ist not supposed to be a full fledged DAW, but Steinberg still advertises with VST-plugins…
If this is not wanted, than please remove the VST-plugin feature completely.

Your last sentence…
What an utmost ungracious and stupid suggestion!
Just because you are disappointed that SL doesn’t have realtime implementation of VST3 FX, there is no reason to remove the VST3 functionality that I and many other users work with every day.
You really wan’t to take away this very usable option? Why?
Does it interfere with your workflow? If so, just don’t use it.
The advert you’re linking to clearly says ”in conjunction with selection based processing functionality” that gives ”highly targeted plug-in processing options”.
What’s hard to understand? This is exactly what SL does and an option that is very valued.
Please accept that other users than yourself have other ways than your when working with SL. There is no need to destroy for them just because you don’t esteem a certain feature.
@Sunnyman
You should be removed
A bad implementation is worse than no implementation, imho.
If my statement might have offended you personally, than I am sorry.
@Sunnyman
I think I went a bit too far, too. Sorry
The present implementation is good enough for many others than you. Perhaps you should respect that we really value and use the offline VST3 option.
Once again, if you don’t like it don’t use it.
But don’t disrespect other users that like it. It works perfectly well mostly and is definately a great feature.
Could you please be specific, in which way does my statement “disrespects others”.
You do seem to see some statements as a personal challenge, which they are not and I do not understand. Sorry.
As I have mentioned at another place: “Don’t ever blame the customer.”
I consider Spectral Layers as one of the very best software products in the sound market. No question about that.
But the implementation of the VST-plugins is, imho, sluggish and very far from complete.
Sorry, if you find this offensive, but I do not like second or third class quality anywhere; not in food, cars, books, music, art, software in general, places to be, … everywhere. “Good enough for 80% is not good enough for me.”
As a matter of fact, I do not use the VST-implementation of SL anymore, because it is so frustrating to use. - This does make the customer happy.
I am using SL as a mere editor by now. But this wastes so much potential, that this great program has.
You don’t want us other users to access the VST3 feature. You wrote that you want it removed completely, meaning you don’t want anyone to have access to this feature.
That is pretty disrespecting towards users that like and use it.
IIRC you have vented this opinion before, under an other username.
This sounds like an angry parking attendent…
Like in ”if I can’t get to use this function properly, then noone else should use it either…”?
As it stands today, the VST-implementation seems like using rusty tools for dental surgery.
Well, if that is “okay” for you, fine. Not for me.
Can you imagine, that the best solution for me, would be also in the interest of the other users you speak for?
Imagine the VST-plugins working flawless and comfortable like in Wavelab or Cubase or other programs. Just imagine that…
Software should work light a light switch at its best, imho.
There is almost always something, that can be done better - and than it should be done better, simple as that. Anywhere, anytime and at all costs, no matter what. The best is always just good enough. If it’s not the best, than we have to make it best.
Compare what you now say with what you said in your first post.
Of course everyone want the best, needless to say. That’s not what’s being discussed.
What you said in your opening post was more like if we can’t have the best we shouldn’ t have anything at all.
Like if it was better to go with dental cavities than to have them fixed (”with rusty tools”).
I for one would rather have my toothache fixed, no matter what tools it would take, than to go with the ache.
End of discussion for me.
