Feature request: Selecting (Highlighting sections)

Hi folks.

I am overall thrilled to death about how much better Dorico is than Finale ever was. However there is one thing I feel Finale did better than Dorico Can you please improve the music selection process (highlighting various sections of music). Finale had this one feature called ‘Select Region’, a simple thing where with drop down menu/lists for the instruments and boxes to type in the measure numbers. You select which instrument staff where the section starts, down to the staff where it ends, likewise type in a starring measure and end measure. It’s much easier for highlighting/selecting large chunksnof a score.

Thanks

Dennis

If this is possible it would be great. I dont see it anywhere in Dorico.

Just curious: Is that easier to you than selecting the first measure in the first staff of the region, then Shift+clicking the last measure in the last staff?

It all depends exactly what you want to highlight.

For selecting all instruments in a section, use the system track.

For other selections @asherber’s approach works well.

Or for more nuanced selections (eg. just the notes and not surrounding text or dynamics), select the first and last items and ctrl-shift-A to highlight everything in between.

One problem with the Finale approach is you need to know bar numbers that may not be visible…
