Feature request: Video playback

Hi, I use Cubasis on an iPad Pro as the centerpiece of our live show setup, and it works like a charm.

Except that it doesn’t have video playback, so right now I’m using a Cubasis MIDI track to trigger video playback from a 2nd iPad that’s running TouchViz (frame-accurate sync’d video projections are a key part of our live show).

I’d love not to have to lug a 2nd iPad around, and have all the complexity of the MIDI connectivity and trigger notes etc.

So, hence this feature-request - please include a video track in Cubasis!

Just adding a comment to keep this feature-request alive. I’m in the middle of building a next-generation version of our live setup, and I sure would love to have the ability to have a video track in Cubasis, so I can just drop a MP4 file in there and have it played on an external display connected via HDMI to the same iPad Pro that I’m running Cubasis on.

Pretty please?!

Hi @Timo00

There was an AUVideoPlayer app available on the App Store for quite some time. You may want to check in that direction.

Best,

Oh, that’s a great suggestion, thank you!

It concerns me a little bit that development on this app seems to have stopped, but I’m going to try this out regardless.

Could this be the one Lars was referring to?

Yeah, that’s the one I’m going to try out. Stay tuned!

Bleh, that didn’t work. I can load the AU just fine into Cubasis (and it will play a video just fine), but as soon as I connect an external monitor via HDMI to the iPad Pro I’m running this on, all it gives me is a mirrored screen.

I don’t want to see my Cubasis UI on that monitor. I want to see the video I’ve loaded into the AU!

Even an ancient iPad Air that I’m running TouchViz on can show just the video I’m playing from TouchViz on that external display, with the iPad showing me the TouchViz UI.

And to make matters worse, as soon as I connect that HDMI cable, Cubasis disconnects the Focusrite Scarlett audio interface and starts playing audio over HDMI. Don’t want that either!

Anybody around here who may have another solution?
