I can’t find any possibility to move the figured bass above the staff - (how) is this possible?

If it’s something you might want differently in different Layouts, then look for it in … Layout Options.
Engraving Options are largely concerned with the appearance and style of the whole project.
Notation Options are for each flow, and are slightly more substantive than appearance, e.g. beam grouping, Note grouping, etc.
After a while, it makes sense, and you can usually guess, even if you don’t know!
