Yes, that’s my understanding too (although, in the posts above, I’m afraid there’s been some confusion between true French continuo (Rameau, Couperin, Marais, etc.) and harmony exercises with “basse chiffrée”.
While we’re waiting for Dorico to improve on this point, BenWiggy, a very valuable member of this forum, has designed a font that does some nice things for eighteenth-century French continuo : « GoFigure ».
