Filecompability between Cubase versions

I seem to recall reading somewhere that it was possible to open files, saved in Cubase (the big one) in CB Elements and Artist and vice versa. Is this correct?

If so, does the settings that aren’t present in Elements and Artist survive the trip, when it is re-opened in Cubase (the big one)?

I believe this is possible with ProTools.

I can say that when opening Cubase 7 files in Cubase 7 Elements and saving, all Score data was lost upon reopening in Cubase 7.

Therefore I did not buy Cubase Elements.

But it was possible to open Cubase 7 projects in Cubase 7 Elements. That is good news. Thanx.
