After I export mono files via multiple export, they are all +2db louder than the original tracks. Neither master, nor channel processing is used at all. I’ve tried different settings but nothing helps, I have to lower all the files -2db before export. Please help. Thanks in advance.
Hi and welcome to the forum,
Is your Output Bus set to 0, please?
Yes, everything is at zero, no changes are made at all. I only quantize live drums and trying to send the files back to the studio.
Hi,
How do you compare the result? Do you import it back to Cubase? Isn’t it just the player Volume settings?
I’m sorry, but if you listen in stereo and sum this to mono, the result for correlated signals will be 3dB louder, uncorrelated signals will be louder too.
Yes, I import the files back in the project and compare the files.
There is no summing of stereo files or busses to mono. All the mono files are exported via multi export with “mono downmix” option.
ahm…
Mono downmix isn’t summing to mono?
There is , because you are auditioning inside Cubase through Master bus which is stereo, so your mono files are +3dB louder because of the mono downmix exports going through your master bus.
If you need the same levels then export multiple tracks and select the “interleaved” and “DRY” options so you will get mono files directly from tracks (bypassing the master bus).
This will also give you stereo directly from tracks if there are any.
This isn’t really answering your question, sorry… but you might try just consolidating the tracks into new files. (and then pull them out of the folder)
