Fill To Loop - Loop incorrect

This is something that has been recurring over the years. I loop a section and set “Preview” and “Fill” “To Loop”. This is sometimes just a part of a set of events simply because this section provides the best opportunity to dial in for example EQ.

E.g.: Dialog track 1 ends with “to integrate Dolby’s rendering technology,” and then Dialog track 2 uses a different take for the rest of the sentence “including certifying that the final output is aligned with all of our specifications.” I might choose to loop only “rendering technology” through “including certifying that”. After my settings for Dialog track 2 is good I adjust the loop range to cover all of that remaining sentence on that second track.

When punching to fill loop Nuendo sometimes only punches into the loop range I made initially and ignores the adjusted range which leaves automation settings untouched outside of it.

It seems as if there is a series of events where it would probably be best if Nuendo updated the current loop range position just before punching automation, and right now it seems it doesn’t. Either that or something else is wrong.

Has anyone else run into this?

I’ll try to figure out a repro at some point, but for now it just seems like it happens after doing multiple things possibly “too fast” for the system to follow.

I’m bumping this.

Does nobody else have this problem?

I’m sure this issue has been around for a while and I often encounter it when making a range selection of automation and then using the fill loop key command to fill between my cycle range. I’ll often have to toggle the fill loop command multiple times before it will “take” and fill the cycle range completely. I suspect it might have something to do with cycle mode in playback, ASIO Guard, and it getting confused when you’re working quickly. Automation is due for a much needed overhaul.
