I have switched my default text font on a project to Helvetica Neue, and my fingerings are still showing in Bravura. In Edit Font Styles Fingering the text font is listed as Helvetica. Why would output differ from the Font Style listed?
In Engraving Options > Fingering > Design > Fingering appearance, are you using “Bold font” or “Plain font”?
If you choose “Bold font”, then Dorico uses the font specified in the Fingering Font style (and assumes that it is a SMuFL font); if you choose “Plain font”, then Dorico uses the Fingering Text Font style (and assumes that it’s a regular font).
I think you may have changed the Fingering Text Font to Helvetica but have the option set to “Bold font” – change it to “Plain font” and your project should use Helvetica.
That’s not what I’m talking about. Take a look in Engraving Options at the option I mentioned and make sure it’s set to “Plain font”.
Thanks! Having something like a finger font in 2 totally different menus is a bit confusing.
I think it makes sense, but I also think the option in Engraving Options is poorly named.
If you look in Font Styles, you’ll see that there’s a Fingering Font style and also a Fingering Text Font style. The option in Engraving Options determines which one of those gets used. It has nothing to do with whether the numbers appear bold or plain.
In Engraving Options > Rests > Multi-bar Rests > Design, the analogous choice is between “Music font” and “Plain font”, which I think is clearer than “Bold Font” and “Plain font”.
(Even better might be if both of these had “Music font” and “Text font”.)
