Fingering position for guitar

Hello Doric community.
I’m from Finale and you’ll excuse me if I don’t ‘chew’ on the Doric philosophy.
I have been trying to get some fingerings (for guitar) by default, so no manual positioning.
I have seen the typographical options in Dorico, but it seems that there is no specific provision for such positioning:
for the up-stemmed voice, the fingering above.
for the stem-down voice, below the note head.
(except for the eighth note with the tail, which is all fingering to the left);

Am I doing something wrong, can I have some more precise information to get what I am enclosing in the picture?
Thank you very much

Please take a look at this video, which provides an introduction to the fretted instrument fingering features of Dorico:

Start here in the Operation Manual:

Daniel Thanks for answering my question!
I have already seen this video but have not found the answer to my needs.
It seems that the fingering has a left-hand positioning priority (as Gould also reports) but I don’t like this because it’s too messy, besides the fact that this takes up more space per bar!
I’ll try the positioning again.

Here’s information about the positioning of left-hand fingerings (it describes how to change this for individual fingerings, but take note of the tip at the end, which points you to the project-wide equivalent default setting in Engraving Options).

I think what the OP is asking for is to place the fingering not to the left of the note, but right above it, as per his example. I’ll investigate into engraving options and see what can be done!

Yes it is! I look forward to hearing from you if you have time! Thanks

This I found: You can allow fingering in spaces, but somehow the vertical offset setting doesn’t do much?
Plus, it would need a horizontal offset also…
In the preset state of affairs, you can only adjust individual fingerings in Engrave Mode, but that’s tedious, of course!
So, in short, afaik it can’t be done, but I must admit, it looks like a nice-to-have tool, and would therefore make good feature request!

Cheers,
Benji

P.S.: To give this feature request more weight, it would be nice to see some examples of these fingerings in published literature…

@riccardodp I agree with you that it would seem more convenient at times for the finger numbers to appear over and directly beside the note heads as is standard in piano music and would support your request for this option. I did find this style discussed at Guitar fingering notation.
