It looks like it may have been my old Finale habit of entering “/A” instead of “F/A”. I knew that Dorico was going to shorten it to that. When I entered the full chord and bass note combination, it allowed it. I think my confusion came due to the fact that Dorico didn’t register an invalid error, but just moved onto the next chord and left the one I entered blank. Now that I know this is the behavior, I will look for this.
