I’m encountering this issue in many places after importing an XML file:
I know I can fix it manually in Engrave mode by selecting each note and flipping the stem direction, but is there a way to correct this globally across the entire score? Any Idea ?
I have everything except text items unticked under Preferences→MusicXML. You could try to select all, right-click→Stem→Remove forced stem. Also Edit→Reset Appearance. Unless there are two voices. Then right-click→Voices→Change Voice→Upstem voice 1.

When I import an XML file, I always Select All and reset the beaming, stem directions, positions, etc. to my templates’ defaults. This method might not work for all projects that might have an exact formatting that one does not want to reset.
Unfortunately, I’ve already made significant progress on my arrangement and can’t reimport the XML file. “Stem → Remove Forced Stem” and “Edit → Reset Appearance” don’t work in this case.
However, I just found a solution that works: Select all, then flip stems twice.
Clarification: This only works on short passages—I have to do it individually for each relevant section. It’s still faster than doing it in Engrave mode, so there’s no global solution to this issue.
