Flow horizontal spacing

How do I manually adjust space between flow heading and 1st system?

Actually you did manually adjust the space.

This is supposed to be the ultima ratio. First try to let Dorico do the job by deleting the manual changes (select the red squares and press Delete) and adjusting Flow heading top and bottom margin in Layout Options > Page Setup > Flows.

No, I don’t think so. When adjusting the 1st system vertically the flow header follows.

I understand the Notation Layout option for all flow headings.

Ok, maybe I got it. I need to adjust the staffs vertically, not the systems.

Hmm, it is not quite clear, what you are doing: staff, stave, system, grand staff?

All the red markings in your Engrave Mode screenshot show that there has been manual adjustments, either by yourself, or someone else using your computer.. It can’t be the cat, as it needs the alt-key plus the arrow keys simultaneously..

Regarding your initial question: go to the Layout Options>Page Setup>Flows. There is an area where you can change the space above and below the flow headers:

Don’t use engrave mode sub-modes. Really.

You can change the frame of your Flow Headings template. You can (as was rightly suggested) change the margin below the flow headings in Layout options>Page setup>Flows. Any other way is… manual. You don’t want that

Hi @GeirSol, in Addition to all the useful suggestions above, there is the Flow Heading override functionality where you can define the margins of the Flow Heading for each flow independently.

Agree, but I didn’t see any other way here.
(But Flow heading override, as Christian suggested)

I understand what you are saying.
But you didn’t quite get me. The technical workaround required vertical adjustment of staves, not system.

Yes, that’s why I asked
And yes, in the mean time we have learnt that Dorico has even prepared for these instances - as the solution by Christian describes.
