I’m trying to create a document containing both music and text flows, each with a flow heading, sometimes with both types on one page. I tried to use Dorico 6’s new feature to have multiple flow headings but unfortunately that only works on a page basis and not a flow basis. Next I tried selecting the text flow and deselecting all the instruments. This gave me a Tacet. If, under Layout Options/Players/Tacets I deselect Show Tacet, it removes the flow from the display entirely. Am I going about this wrong?
The best bet is to use Page Templates for text only and flows for music (w/ text).
I have a Page Template with only text frames but when I select it, it moves the flow I need the text to be on over one page. I need the texts to be in their own, numbered flow.
Page templates can contain both music and text in virtually any configuration. Sometimes one needs to create a special template to position (specific) text in a specific spot. Of course this can be somewhat inconvenient at times, but it is preferable to using page overrides.
You can set up a flow with just one empty bar, to have the title and other flow info you need. Then you can make a page template with a small music frame, and a larger text frame that covers the music frame completely. If you set the text frame’s background to white, it will hide the music. That’s the only way I’ve found to make “text flows”.
