Focusrite Scarlett - volume/gain issues

Hi, I’m running my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 through Cubase 9 Pro, been working fine, but now, the gain switch when on zero, still sound goes through, can be heard and recorded (used to be completely silent) and the gain just kind of adds distortion instead of acting as a volume knob.


I contacted Focusrite who suggested it could be faulty pots, and quoted some fairly pricey repair costs. But it was working perfectly until yesterday.

Anyway, has anyone had the same problem or got any idea what the issue could be??

Some Issues can occur after a few elapsed time. Sometimes a Failure in the Hardware is always there, but caused now through a Burn-Out in the ICs.

It´s high-probably an Defect of your Hardware. Get all your Papers of the Purchase together and get the warranty until it´s expanded.

I’m running Scarlett 18i20 Gen 2 and don’t see the same problem, for what it’s worth.

I have the same problem right now with my focusrite scarlett solo (2nd gen). How did you fix yours? Thank you in advance
